Saturday the 11th of May 2019 was a good day at Killarney Raceway in Cape Town. The sun was shining and the temperature was just right. As this was a national event there were race cars from all over the country.

Investchem F1600’s
The Investchem F1600 was also at the track to race, they had a big turnout of cars.
Falken Polo Cup
Another group of National cars that was down at Killarney this weekend was the Falken Polo Cup Cars, this was a really big class, and a great group of competitors.
GTC 1 & GTC2 Class
Unfortunately, there weren’t enough cars to run 2 separate races so the GTC1 & GTC2 cars raced together. The was a pit of action in that race as the cars started pushing each other. One of the rules of Killarney or even just between driver is. Don’t overtake in turn one. Turn one is one of the most dangerous turns on the circuit. If there are issues, it is usually on turn 1. Two of the top competitors were taken out on turn 1. One of the cars ended up on top of the wall.
Sports & GT Class
The Sport & GT class also had a good turnout of 18 cars. Watching the other races is usually nice, but Sports & GT is what I come to watch. It is the meanest cars with the most power, and they do scary lap times around the track. They could be anywhere between 300hp and 1000+Hp all depending on the class they are in.
As you can see this class also have some of the most expensive cars that you can race with. Then this class is out on the track you don’t really care who wins. You just enjoy the thunder and screaming when they come past you on the track. This is really an experience.

The Beast…
For a bit of a show, the Scribante Racing team brought their beast of a Nissan GT-R to the track. They did one lap in anger of which they did a lap time of 01:10.2sec. The GT-R puts out an astonishing 1600Hp, it is really insane.
Overall it was a great day at Killarney race way with allot of cars and allot of action. See you guys at the next race…
