In 2010, I was still driving my 1997 Polo Classic that I have had forever. The car had some issues from time to time. This is what happens if you push parts way past what they are designed for. I was thinking of getting myself a proper day to day car, and then the Polo can be like a weekend toy to get the blood pumping. The question was just what to get.
One day I visited one of my friends that is a car salesman. He came home that evening with a car that was traded in. My friend said, “let’s go for a drive”. The car was a Golf 5 GTI. I was really impressed with the Golf 5 GTI and that day a seed was planted. I just had to have one of those. In standard form the car looks good, it drives so smooth. This is a powerful but refined car. The red and blue dash backlight colors were just insane. The car had nice black leather bucket seats and all the nice goodies of a luxury car.
Now to find a car
It was a few weeks later and I spoke to my friend at the dealership. I asked him if he could find me a decent Golf 5 GTI. After a few days, he phoned me and said that he has found one and the price is good. We went to go have a look at the car and took the car for a test drive. I could not believe how quickly the car was and how solid the car felt on the road. Although my Polo was a lot more powerful than the Golf you just could not compare the cars. It was like day and night.
It was about a week later and I had the car. The Golf golf had the full package except for the Xenon Lights. This was like a dream that came true.
So what will I do to it?
Everyone that knew me all had the same question. “What are you going to do to this car”. My response to that question was “Nothing”. I had the Polo to play with or if I wanted to tinker on something. This car was just perfect! One thing I didn’t know was how big aftermarket performance parts there was going to be for this “Tuner” cars.
The Golf was such a nice drive that I ended up driving the golf most of the time. The Polo ended up standing and the Garage and just take up space. I then decided it was time to sell the Polo. If I knew then what I know now I may have decided differently. I got a really good price for the Polo and it was really sad to see that car go.
The Polo was gone now and I had nothing to mess around with. The big question now as was “What am I going to do?”
One thought on “So what will my next project car be?”
